‘Heavier Trip’ is a hilarious follow-up to the classic film ‘Heavy Trip’ focusing on one of the most famous fictional metal bands in Finland, Impaled Rektum. The film picks up with band members trapped in a Norwegian jail cell serving punishment for their previous activities. Their dull existence turns upside-down when they receive news of Lotvonen, the guitarists family crisis. Facing financial issues prompts the family to demolish their reindeer farm. Trying to escape to Germany’s Wacken Open air festival, the group hatches a plan to break out which leads to a chaotic mix of friendship and heavy metal.

As Turo Moilanen, a member of the band’s pioneer vocals, Johannes Holopainen: Now he has to battle new obsticles that come along with his position in the band.

  • Max Ovaska as Pasi/Xytrax: The loyal and comical bassist who always remains steadfast to the band’s doctrine of Metal.
  • Samuli Jaskio as Lotvonen: The kind and loyal guitarist who adds additional personal motivation to the band’s journey.
  • Chike Ohanwe As Oula: The furious drummer who is the main source of half the film’s action and humor due to his swearing and excitement.

Directed by Juuso Laatio and Jukka Vidgren, “Heavier Trip” showcases comedy and real life in more of a charles chaplain sort of style. The film explores friendship, what defines a person, and the sacrifices one is willing to undertake to protect those things. While the band travels from one chaotic event to another, they juggle the popularity of the underground world while combating the never ending desire of fame, including escaping prison guards. The film ends with an uproarious fight at Wacken with the band’s self and collective loyalty which determines their loyalty and togetherness.
