Jacob’s Ladder

Jacob’s Ladder

Movie Info:

Jacob’s Ladder (1990) is an unsettling psychological horror thriller directed by Adrian Lyne (Fatal Attraction, Indecent Proposal). The film follows the journey of a Vietnam War veteran as he blindly dances through the dying fragments of his sanity post-war. Its haunting mix of trauma, grief, and the extremely thin line that exists between reality and insanity is jaw droppingly disturbing, and allows it to blend emotional depth with nightmarish hallucinations masterfully. Jacob’s Ladder has solidified itself as an unforgettable and cerebral horror film.

🎥 Trailer Vibes

The trailer kicks off with spine chilling melodies as the title, “Jacob Singer” appears, after which we see the character’s messy life as a Vietnam War veteran bursting with PTSD and chilling visions. As the trailer continues, we catch glimpses of shadowy figures alongside distorted faces with lights flashing intermittently hinting at a crumbling world. The stitching between paranoia and reality begins to disintegrate as we see visions of subway demons, ghostly hospital corridors, and fragmented memories while the character’s descent into madness induces relentlessly paranormal imagery. The best part? We are left suspended, teetering between two worlds. Does Jacob see supernatural entities or is his brain simply betraying him?
